Covid-19 Mandates Update from the LCTS Board

As outlined in the notice published on December 29th, 2021, the mandated public closure of
Langham Court Theatre is in effect until February 1st, 2022 at 11:00 PM. The Board of Directors
will now provide an update to these mandates.

The mandates currently in effect include:

  1. The building is closed to the general public
  2. All staff are to work from home (without financial penalty).
  3. Private rentals may continue, however will be subject to updated restrictions. *Please note: Rental groups who wish to continue using the space are asked to email operations@langhamtheatre.ca to negotiate their rental agreement to reflect the most current BC health restrictions announced on Dec 24, 2021. *

These mandates will be replaced with the following:

  1. The building continues to be closed to the general public.
  2. Staff are working from home where they can, or with limited hours in the building, abiding by a specific set of COVID-19 protocols for staff.
  3. Private rental groups that continued to use the space are doing so under additional restrictions and updated COVID-19 protocols for renters. These are limited to closed rentals and not open to the public.

These mandates will be in effect until after Spring Break, on April 4th, 2022, at which time will be
revisited.

All of our board members, along with the greater community, have experienced health impacts
and work delays due to the surge of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in our communities. In
particular, disabled, immunocompromised elders and community members continue to be
marginalized during this pandemic. We invite everyone to be mindful about the ways we can all
unintentionally perpetuate ableism, and we will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our
marginalized community members at a pace that aligns with disabled and immunocompromised
folks’ needs.

Safety within the community is our number one priority. We continue to work diligently to update
the COVID-19 protocols for the public and will release them as soon as we are able. Some
highlights of this work includes looking at ways to implement vaccine card scanning systems,
processes for symptom checking and reporting, and also updating ticketing and admin systems
to accommodate the new restrictions.

In the coming days, members of the Society will receive instructions on how to sign up for the
anti-racism training with the Inter-Cultural Association. The first session will take place on
February 14th, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM PST virtually over Zoom, is of no cost to
community members, and we invite members to let us know of any access needs that will help
them participate fully. This training is open to all members and staff, and those who participate in
the sessions will be prioritized for volunteer opportunities within the Society.

Our 6-month timeline was released on Jan 15th, 2022, outlining the Board’s goals over the next
few months. If you would like to support these initiatives, please continue to reach out to us at
operations@langhamtheatre.ca. Thank you to everyone who has already done so!

We appreciate your ongoing support. Wishing you all safety and health during this difficult stage
of the pandemic.

Yours sincerely,

The LCTS Board of Directors
