The Affair of the Lone Banana & The Diary of a Young Girl
Sat, May 11
On Saturday, May 11th, the Fifth Annual Readers’ Theatre Festival presents two plays:
7pm: THE AFFAIR OF THE LONE BANANA
Is it safe to point a loaded banana at someone? Will the last British banana tree in South America fall to the rebels? These and other madcap questions are tackled by a cast of 11 to 13-year-old students from Monterey Middle School. This re-creation of an episode of the classic 1950s BBC radio comedy program is full of the surreal humour that John Cleese once described as “light years ahead of everyone else.” Come and enjoy the next generation of stage actors as they perform this show in the classic readers theatre format.
8pm: Readings from THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL by Anne Frank
“…this wise and wonderful young girl brings back a poignant delight in the infinite human spirit.” – Meyer Levin, New York Times. Actors from age 13 to over 80 will be reading passages from Anne Frank’s diary. Come to this once-only experience, taking place as, part of the Readers’ Theatre Festival.
Admission by donation.
Refreshments served afterwards!
