Reconciliation Theatre and Langham Court Theatre present “Nice While It Lasted” Aug 2 – 4

Reconciliation Theatre Society logoReconciliation Theatre Society (R.T.S.) is excited to be back on the stage at Langham Court Theatre this summer following last year’s presentation of The Berlin Blues, by Anishinaabe playwright Drew Hayden Taylor – the last stop in their extremely successful 2023 South Island Tour.  This year, they are delighted to present the world premiere of Nice While it Lasted, by Kwakwaka’wakw playwright Dan Puglas

Timely and touching, Nice While it Lasted weaves the emotional journey home for Hunter, an indigenous twenty-something who fears he’s missed his last chance to reconnect with his traditional culture.  As the life Hunter left behind clashes with his urban influences, fire-season threatens the very survival of the community he loves. This searing tale explores coming of age on a burning planet; running out of time when you’ve only just begun.

Nice While it Lasted was written by Puglas with the support of Native Earth Performing Arts, a leader in indigenous talent development on Turtle Island.  It opened in Nanaimo over the Canada Day weekend, and will visit a number of venues on the Island, including Campbell River, Courtenay, and Qualicum Nation.  RTS was awarded a 2024 Anti-Racism grant from the Ministry of the Attorney General.
