Langham Court Theatre presents the WORLD PREMIERE of West of Amchitka Lies the End of the World by J.K. Vikse
Sunday, May 24, 7pm PST via Zoom

Autumn, 1965. When Anne Thurmin returns home after a break-up, she discovers the US Navy attempting to evacuate her parents from her childhood home – tiny Kiska Island off the coast of Alaska. Naval officers, family members, and environmental activists soon crowd the otherwise deserted island, and while taking a stand against military forces Anne learns the real reason that her family is being evicted. Forced to confront the truth of her childhood memories, Anne discovers that she has a difficult decision to make: to accept the safety of a sheltered life or to finally grow up.

Jason (J.R.) Vikse is a Canadian author and playwright and is currently the Playwright-in-Residence* at Langham Court Theatre. He has written a number of plays, one of which premièred in Zürich in 2016, and published eight books, some of which have peaked in the Top Ten lists on Amazon. When he isn’t writing, he directs, acts, and designs for the theatre. Jason has directed, designed, and/or performed in thirty productions in three countries over the past fifteen years, including directing the recent productions of The Clean House and Over the River and Through the Woods at Langham.

*The Playwright-in-Residence was made possible through the Victoria Foundation (Community Grants Program 2017).
